I’d like to highlight a few organizations who’s efforts we’ve supported:

  • Beds Plus located in LaGrange, IllinoisTheir goal is to end homelessness one person at a time. We reached out to them at the onset of Covid and asked what high priority items do families need that their organization could not provide. The answer was chrome books! In the past, their clients were able to use the computer lab in the Shelter’s community room or go to the library. These were no longer options. As a result, they identified 10 specific families/clients that needed immediate access to a computer. In addition to making a contribution to their Covid-19 Emergency Response fund, we provided 10 chrome books to:

    • A single mother who was required to take an online certification class in order to keep her job. Additionally, her son needed it for his own classes. After receiving the chrome book, she passed her class and received her certificate.

    • Two senior citizens with health issues who need a computer to correspond with their health care professionals.

    • Seven families with school age children.

  • Country House Restaurant located in Alsip, Illinois

They dedicated their efforts to serving and delivering meals to seniors, veterans and community members in need. As of August, they had served more than 100,000 complimentary meals.  They expect that number to increase as they add more bulk meal deliveries to senior homes, veteran communities, and first responders.

  • Morning Star Mission located in Joliet, Illinois

They provide three meals a day to the hungry, clothes for the needy, and shelter for the homeless.

  • Reclaim13: We donated to their Match Support appeal.

  • Crisis Center of South Suburbia: The shelter was hit hard by Covid-19, forcing the Crisis Center to rapidly relocate many families. We provided mattresses/box springs and complete bedding for five families.

  • Home 2 Home Project: details can be found on our Families page

  • Zelda’s Kitchen Witches: Their cupboards were bare. So they got creative and threw and online shower which we gladly participated in.
